The Application of Service

After reading this today, I knew it was a reminder to me and many of my friends that are Unselfish Givers. Enjoy, I did!! All my love, Parthenia
************************************

Service is the ability to give of self (for example, time, knowledge, resources) without an attachment to the expectation of reward or recognition. Working with a consciousness of love (unselfish giving).

We are rarely taught to serve in life. We are taught to work. Work, we are taught, is the act of doing what needs to be done in order to acquire the things that we need.

Service is the act of doing what you love for the sake of loving it. This is the highest work you can do in the world. Service is the divine multiplier. When you perform an act of genuine service, giving of your time, energy, and resources as an act of love, the universe will multiply what you do and reward you with greater results than you expected.

. . . [M]ost of us hate what we do for work, hate the environment that we do it in, hate the people we do it with, or are sorely disappointed by the rewards we get. . . . We grow in a loving environment. It's not the money that is missing from the workplace, it is the love. It is the service.

. . . [S]ervice, doing what you love, has rewards that money cannot buy. It has become very clear to me that when you give yourself over to acts of love, passionately spending your time giving yourself over to acts of love, you are never at a loss or lack for the things that you need.  Believe it or not, we need much more in life than money. We need a sense of purpose. Purpose keeps you from being burnt out. Service gives you purpose. We need a personal mission that will help us focus our time and energy. When you are on a mission, you have passion, there is an internal fire that keeps you alive. Service keeps you alive and well. . . . Service gives you a reason to take care of yourself.

When you serve, you are not tied to the outcome. You are not invested in what people do as a result of what you do, or what people think about what you are doing. You give what you have because it makes you feel good. You give what you have because you know that the unique way in which you do what you do will make someone else feel good.

You may never know in this lifetime how your work and contributions made in love affect people. However, when you give a service, this is not your concern. You do what you do because you love to do it. Whatever you love will touch somebody.

Service, as a spiritual principle, does not imply or import poverty. Most of us think that if you serve, giving of yourself without focusing on the money, you will be poor. . . . There is a problem with this line of thinking.

Do what you love! Do it with passion! Do it with the understanding that if you are never rewarded with money or recognized by the public, you are making a valuable contribution to yourself. Shift your focus from money to love. When you have love, you want to give of yourself. When you give of yourself for the sake of love, the impersonal, immutable, perfect laws of the universe demand that you must be rewarded tenfold.

CALLING FORTH MY GOOD

CALLING FORTH MY GOOD

Immersed in Infinite Good, I turn within. Feeling the presence of Love, I know that God is all there is. It is the love of God that flows effortlessly and easily through the universe, and it is from this love that all things are created.

And I know that because God is everywhere present, love is everywhere present. Love is flowing in through and as me right now; there is no separation, no spot where God is not; no spot where love is not. I am one with infinite Source, one with the power and presence of divine Wisdom, one with the vibration and energy of Love. In this holy moment I know I am the beloved of God.

I now proclaim my good and call forth situations and circumstances that allow me to share my gifts and talents with others. I call forth situations and circumstances that give me the opportunity to love and show compassion. I call forth situations and circumstances that allow me to see and feel the love and compassion of others.

I know that as I serve I am blessed and in all that I do my life reflects and reveals the all good of God.

I am deeply and profoundly grateful for the power and grace of love.

I release the power of this word, knowing that as I let go and let God it is done.

And so it is. Amen.

JUST A BREATH AWAY

JUST A BREATH AWAY

Dear God,

I know that Your love is as close to me as my beating heart. I know that Your breath breathes new life into me each day. I know that You are only a prayer away and all I have to do to hear a word from You is to close my eyes, take a breath and go within.

God, I ask that You remind me of this truth in every moment of my life especially when my humanness allows me to forget. I ask that You bless me to live this truth with confidence and certainty. I ask that You uproot all faulty thinking that allows me to lose sight of the truth and that You nurture the seeds of faith, hope, light, healing and love that You have planted in my consciousness.

I thank You, God, for the blessing is already here. I am blessed by the healing energy radiating within me. I am grateful for Your healing presence that is seated in the center of my being. I thank you for reminding me of who You are in me.

For this and for so much more I am so grateful!

Let It Be So and So It Is!

Amen.

I OPEN MY MIND AND HEART

I OPEN MY MIND AND HEART

"I lift up my mind and heart to be aware, to understand, and to know the Divine Presence I AM is the Source and Substance of all my good." John Randolph Price

Dear Mother, Father God, Alpha and Omega and Everything in Between,

I acknowledge Your goodness and Your presence within me. I know that all that is good and perfect comes from You. I know You to be the Source and the Substance of all that I desire and I tap into Your dwelling place within meto receive my good.

I open my heart, mind and soul to receive Your goodness in my life. I know that Your presence within me shows up as unlimited kindness, patience, gentleness and love. I align myself with Your presence within me and I express You in all that I say, think, feel and do.

I rest assured in the peace You provide in my life, moment by moment. I am grateful to know that my grounding and peace are found within. I am blessed by Your constant presence in my life and for the guidance You provide, moment by moment by moment.

Thank You God for loving me and for keeping me close to You. I am grateful for Your call within my soul that keeps me on the path home to You. I am grateful for Your peace and abundant life within me.

Let It Be So and So It Is!

Age Should Speak and the Young Pay Attention**

Tuesday, August 27, 2013

“Ask the previous generation. Pay attention to the experience of our ancestors.” (Job 8:8)

God wants you to use your experiences to mentor others.

Mentoring is far more intentional than simply ministering to somebody when he’s hurting or motivating him when he’s down or giving him an example. Mentoring is when you actually take an interest in a person’s life and commit to helping him along.

1 John 1:3 says, “We saw it, we heard it, and now we’re telling you so you can experience it along with us.”

What is a mentor? A mentor is simply an experienced, trusted counselor or guide. What do you look for in a mentor? You look for experience. You look for perspective, and you look for somebody you can trust.

Actually the word “mentor” comes from Homer’s poem, “The Odyssey.” When the king goes off to fight the Trojan war, he leaves his kingdom in the hands of a trusted counselor named Mentor. Mentor actually teaches and raises the king’s son. That’s where we get the word “mentor.”

A mentor is like a personal coach. Everybody needs a personal coach and needs to be a personal coach. Personal coaches bring out the best in you. They see in you things that you don’t see in yourself. A mentor helps you with three areas: role, goal, and soul. What do you do in life? What are you accomplishing in life? And, what are you becoming in life? Mentors help you become what you can become.

The Bible says in Proverbs 25:12, “A warning given by an experienced person to someone willing to listen is more valuable than gold rings or jewelry."

All education used to be done by mentors. In the Middle Ages, there were no schools. You would be apprenticed to a master craftsman, and he would train you one on one. That’s how you would learn to be a shoemaker or one of many other crafts. Today mentors are used more than ever before. They use mentors in the military, management, sales, sports, schools, and politics. No athlete would think of signing to be a pro without a coach. Pavarotti would not think of singing without a vocal coach. Even presidents have their mentors.

Why? Because no matter how successful you are or how successful you think you are, you always need a mentor. You’ll need one the rest of your life. It’s how you get to the top. You’ve got to have people who are speaking into your life.

Job 32:7 says, “Age should speak and experience should teach wisdom” (GW). If you’re over 40, are you doing that? Are you teaching anybody? Are you sharing any of your experiences, or are they being wasted?

If you are under 40, this verse is for you: “Ask the previous generation. Pay attention to the experience of our ancestors” (Job 8:8 NLT). Are you being mentored by someone with experience and whom you trust? It’s wise to learn from experience. It’s wiser to learn from the experiences of others.

Women's History Month - Carrie M. Warford

Women's History Month: I would like to honor my Mother Carrie M. Warford, she is a Mother to five sons and one daughter ME! =)  My Moma married early while in high school to escape a not so nice step mother, resulting in having children early in her marriage to my Dad. She didn't work or drive it was the middle 1950 to early 1960's Dad was the bread winner and she took great care of us! Not one day were we hungry or not have a place to stay, and by no means were we wealthy closer to poverty, yet we always went to church and gave to others. The year I had my oldest daughter my parents finalized their divorce after 23yrs of marriage. Since that day in 1978, I have NEVER seen anything short of unwavering strength from my Moma. This is why at age 75yrs old she works full-time almost 7 days a week, and is the strongest I've ever seen!

For me at least she qualifies to be recognized as a pillar of Women's History Month!

Seven Percent from a Ninety Year Old Woman

Written by Regina Brett, 90 years old, of the Plain Dealer, Cleveland , Ohio

To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me. It is the most requested column I've ever written.

My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.

3. Life is too short – enjoy it.

4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and family will.

5. Pay off your credit cards every month.

6. You don't have to win every argument. Stay true to yourself.

7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.

8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.

9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.

10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.

11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.

12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.

13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.

15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye, but don't worry, God never blinks.

16.. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.

17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful. Clutter weighs you down in many ways.

18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.

19.. It's never too late to be happy. But it’s all up to you and no one else.

20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.

21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.

22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.

23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.

24. The most important sex organ is the brain.

25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.

26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words 'In five years, will this matter?'

27. Always choose life.

28. Forgive

29. What other people think of you is none of your business.

30. Time heals almost everything. Give time time.

31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

32. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

33. Believe in miracles.

34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.

35. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.

36. Growing old beats the alternative of dying young.

37. Your children get only one childhood.

38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.

39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.

40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.

41. Envy is a waste of time. Accept what you already have, not what you need

42. The best is yet to come...

43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.

44. Yield.

45. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift.

Its estimated 93% won't share this. If you are one of the 7% who will, share this with the title '7%'.

I'm in the 7%. Friends are the family that we choose.
